Mclaren MP4-12C Visits Blue Water Marine

Mclaren Manchester based in Knutsford…will have one of there latest MP4-12C cars on display at our showrom over the August bank holiday weekend. The MP4-12C boasts at top speed of 205 mph and can reach 0-62 mph in 3.1 seconds.

What makes the perfect driver’s car? It’s a question McLaren’s engineers asked themselves constantly when defining the 12C.  As passionate driving enthusiasts themselves, they imagined the car they would want to own. A car with class-beating performance, of course. But one that feels comfortable and inspires confidence from the moment you sit in it. A car that is easy to drive in town, but rewards skill on the road or track. One that delivers exhilarating performance in the real world, not just in the hands of a professional driver on a circuit. One that offers a true, linear connection between every driver action and vehicle reaction. And add to that list the latest in-car entertainment, communication and navigation technology, presented in a way that is intuitive to use.

They pictured the first genuine, no-compromise, high-performance sports car. They began to call it the ‘and’ car.  It would be lightweight and strong.  Powerful and efficient.  Comfortable and exhilarating. With a compact exterior and a spacious interior. In short, a car that would unite qualities once thought to be mutually exclusive.

By designing the 12C around a carbon fibre chassis they created a strong, safe and lightweight structural core. They then designed an innovative suspension system that uniquely combines agile handling and remarkable road-holding with the ride comfort of a luxury sedan. A powerful, tractable and refined engine, mated to a double-clutch Seamless Shift Gearbox gives the 12C a huge breadth of ability. And the sophisticated electronic control systems governing the suspension, transmission, brakes and even the aerodynamics, deliver maximum control, minimal intervention and total exhilaration.

So whether your journey takes you to work, to the racetrack or from London to Monte Carlo, we’re confident there’s no other car you’d rather be driving.

New Squadron arrives at Pwllheli

New Squadron arrives at Pwllheli

The exiting and innovative Fairline Squadron 42 has arrived at Hafan Pwllheli.

The iconic Squadron series has always been regarded as representing Fairline’s most visually striking, design-advanced and exclusive models. They have, until now, also been the largest yachts in this internationally renowned line-up.

With the launch of the new Squadron 42, which incorporates many of the design and technology advances pioneered in her larger sister ships - as well as many practical, cutting-edge innovations seen here for the first time - Fairline have created a unique flybridge yacht of ultimate luxury, spaciousness and performance, all within a remarkably compact hull length.

She’s every inch a Squadron, thanks to the elegant, sweeping lines and huge, panoramic window areas that not only look fabulous, but which flood the interior with light and give a spacious, airy feeling. That same sense of space and ‘big boat’ luxury is further enhanced by the extra-large flybridge, the walk-around side decks - and the unusual ‘openness’ of the cockpit with its twin transom gates. These allow easy access on either side of the cockpit seating which converts - cleverly and easily - into a unique, rear-facing lounger.

Another exciting ‘first’ on the Squadron 42 is the option of a concealed, cantilevered tender launching system; it will hold a tender such as the Williams 285 Jet RIB and incorporates a lowered boarding area. All these advantages, combined with the separate passerelle, add up to a level of convenience in stern layout and facilities unprecedented on a boat of this size.

The inside story is pure Squadron too. Unmatched craftsmanship and practical, user-friendly design that has become the ‘DNA’ of these stunning yachts; so owners and guests will enjoy class-leading accommodation everywhere - from the light, airy saloon, with full length windows and sumptuous furnishings (including a fold-out bed with 6” mattress in the sofa) to the master cabin, with feature skylights and fabulous en suite - to the guest cabin, which not only has beds that quickly convert from 2 singles to a double, but has a unique layout with double doors to its own en suite; with these doors open, the guest cabin almost doubles in useable size and has a great feeling of spaciousness. As befits a ‘proper’ cruising boat, the galley is large, light-filled and equipped with up to two fridges and a host of storage options.

Golf Day

Golf Day

The first Bluewater Marine Golf Day looked destined to fail, as thursday evening turned into a disaster zone, with winds reported as high as 87 mph, Abersoch Beach was littered with small sailing boats and Porthmadog Harbour had seen several boats break there moorings. I really expected to see a ‘Course Closed’ sign as i turned into the golf club car park, but fortunately this was’nt the case and by the time we were ready to tee off, the clouds had cleared and the winds had dropped. A few had backed out in the days leading up to the event, but still a healthy 32 players were’nt put off by the forecasts. A great day was had by all, typically some good golf and some bad…we had 5 hole in one prizes, from a set of Taylormade golf clubs to a Yamaha Waverunner, and nobody bothered to get one…i think on reflection the idea to have a buggy running around the course with Beer and Water on board for everyone, was’nt the best…the Beer had run out after just 1 hour… and had to call on Lisa for more…strangely i still have plenty of water left. There was one team that stood out from the rest, led by Mr. Doug Baker…(now known as ‘Bandit Baker’), he was the overall winner finishing with 41 points, his partner Mr. Rob Passingham finished 2nd with 39 points, and with a healthy 38 points in 3rd place was Mr. Adrian Woodhouse. Doug Bakers team also won the ‘best team’ competition with 100 points. We have a lot of thank you’s to dish out namely David Pougher from Yamaha Motor UK, Thomas and Harriet on the Beer Buggy, all at Abersoch Golf Club for making the day run smoothly, Ian Barclay for having the patience to sort out the scorecards and Chris Harford for conducting the prizegiving. This will be an annual event, we plan to make bigger and better year on year.
